History

Our Roots

Food Banks Alberta was founded in 1998 on the belief that individual food banks could work together to support one another, increase awareness about hunger and poverty, and employ a solutions-focused approach to ending poverty and hunger.

We know that hunger and food insecurity are not small issues, and we rely on the strength of our members, our relationships, and our learnings to guide our continued growth.

Our Growth

Today, our Provincial Association is 107+ members strong in communities large and small throughout Alberta, and we continue to work together to envision an Alberta without hunger. We lead by creating new opportunities, increasing knowledge, and delivering innovative programs, seeding connections for positive social change.
