Original Joe’s donates funds from 2016 Community Pint Program

Original Joe’s (OJ’s) is pOJsroud to announce that a total of $80,070 was raised by the Community Pint Program throughout 2016. The Community Pint Program, which raises funds by donating 50 cents from the purchase of each pint of a brewery partner’s beer, has raised more than $450,000 since its inception in 2013. This year saw 160,140 pints purchased and proceeds are benefitting the Canadian Red Cross Western Zone in support of Fort McMurray as well as Food Banks Alberta.

“The Community Pint program is part of OJ’s overall Community Cares Fund and is a great way to give back and support the communities we operate in,” said Elena Remoundos, Marketing & Communications Manager, FranWorks Group of Companies. “When the Fort McMurray wildfires were devastating the region we knew we had to support in any way we could. With the Community Pint Program our customers were also able to lend a helping hand.”

A total of $31,649 has been raised across all OJ’s locations and donated to the Canadian Red Cross Western Zone. Alberta OJ’s locations raised $33,152 to be provided to Food Banks Alberta. With 84 member organizations, Food Banks Alberta is a network of food banks, working collectively to alleviate hunger across the province. Food Banks Alberta provides resources, support and assistance to help local food banks raise food, funds and awareness in their communities.

“Due to different circumstances, there’s been a significant increase in use of Alberta’s food banks this year,” says Stephanie Rigby, executive director of Food Banks Alberta. “Thanks to organizations like Original Joe’s we’re able to support food banks across our province and feed those in need.”

Several brewery partners got behind the effort and offered up their pints including Stella Artois, Shock Top, Big Rock, Goose Island, Okanagan Spring, Churchill Brewing Co. and Wildrose Brewery.
