Food Banks Alberta is thrilled to have a Canadian music icon supporting food banks this holiday season.
k.d. lang, who was born in Alberta and shot to international stardom in the 1990s, reached out to Food Banks Alberta earlier this month to see how she could support the work of food banks across the province.
“I’m back living in Alberta after a while away and I just feel a real kinship to fellow Albertans. People are struggling and I want to give back where everything started for me,” said k.d. during the video shoot at the provincial warehouse for food banks.
Her message? Give to a cause that gives back this holiday season.
“Christmas is really a beautiful time of the year, especially when you consider the feeling you get from giving,” said k.d.
“Your contribution of food, funds or your time will have an immediate impact on fellow Albertans. Anything you can give is most graciously accepted.”
k.d. generously gave her time last week to film a television commercial, videos for sharing on social media, and record radio commercials – all done with an eye to supporting the provincial network of 95 food banks across the province.
“Please consider expanding your giving circle this year and give to Food Banks Alberta.”
From Dec. 16 until the end of the year, Food Banks Alberta will be sharing k.d.’s message of giving to draw attention to the work of food banks and encourage year-end donations.
“We are just overjoyed to work with k.d. on this giving campaign,” said Stephanie Walsh-Rigby, CEO of Food Banks Alberta. “Our network of 95 food banks does amazing work to support people in need. This has been a tough year for many Albertans but with k.d.’s help we hope to see an increase in support for food banks.”
