FortisAlberta supports Food Banks Alberta with COVID-19 relief

download 1Food Banks Alberta will receive a $50,000 donation from FortisAlberta, as part of $100,000 donation to support vulnerable populations including Women’s Shelters and Indigenous Communities. Food Banks Alberta is the provincial association of food bank that supports a
strong-network of 95 food banks and their communities.

“The support we receive from companies such as FortisAlberta is vital to the sustainability of our network during uncertain times such as these. Much of our network is experiencing sever decreases in donations while the number of people needing our assistance grows daily,”said Arianna Johnson, Food Banks Alberta Senior Project Manager. “This donation will allow us to purchase much needed items and disburse them to the FortisAlberta communities. Partnerships such as this one enable to us to meet our mandate to Lead, Feed, and Share. We want to thank FortisAlberta for their leadership in assisting us to this end.”

The $50,000 in funding donated from FortisAlberta will be used to purchase much-needed food to be distributed to communities across Alberta where Fortis operates. FortisAlberta employees will also be engaged across their communities to deliver hampers to individuals who are in isolation or immobile. They have 1,100 employees & operational facilities in 50 communities to serve their customers. “We recognize that now more than ever, our customers are counting on us in many ways to help Alberta see its way through the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mike Mosher, FortisAlberta President and CEO. “We know how important it is to ensure that the medical community has the power they need to run life-saving equipment and that people at home can stay connected. We also want to reach out to our customers as neighbours and friends to help them through these uncertain times in the best way we know how, by supporting food banks across the province.”
