As Albertans continue to face urgent needs resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, Food Banks Alberta is pleased to announce a $100,000 donation from Amazon Canada.
The donation will further Food Banks Alberta’s mission to strengthen the impact of the provincial food bank network by creating new opportunities, increasing knowledge, providing resources, and delivering innovative programs. The funds will also help Food Banks Alberta respond to increased demand due to COVID-19, including payment for food and operational costs related to shortages throughout province.
“This is a critical time for Albertans who depend on food banks. The need for our services has always been significant, but the impact of COVID-19 means that we continue to face unprecedented demand,” said Arianna Johnson, Senior Projects Manager, Food Banks Alberta. “We are grateful to Amazon Canada for providing funds that support our community when they are needed most.”
Amazon is proud to be part of Alberta, with over 1,000 employees at its 600,000 square foot Fulfillment Centre in Balzac and an anticipated 600 employees at its new Fulfillment Centre set to open this year in Leduc County.
