Advocacy

Food Banks Alberta strives to be a leader in addressing food insecurity.

By working collectively and collaboratively with our 113 member food banks throughout the province, Food Banks Alberta provides a voice to the important work food banks are doing to help end hunger and combat food insecurity.

Using Our Voice

Food Banks Alberta has developed strong relationships with all levels of government and corporate donors. We work to share the needs of our food banks’ members, increasing visibility and support.

We are proactive and collaborative and believe that together, Albertans can end hunger in our province.

Why Advocacy Matters

It is important to us that everyone understands the complexities of the food insecurity and hunger crisis many people in our province are facing. Albertans also need a reliable place to find information about how they can help, or access help themselves.

We are proud to be the voice of food banks in Alberta, ensuring we are accessing all the resources we can to carry on this important work.

Amplifying Our Impact on Food Security

Public Policy Influence

We encourage all levels of government to understand and consider the outcomes of the policies they develop, as well as the overall challenges we face in addressing food insecurity.

We believe that we are stronger together when we listen to and learn from one another.

Community Efforts & Mobilization

We let community members know how they can get involved and be part of creating solutions to address food insecurity and how they can best support food banks in meeting the need.

We believe in and rely on our communities.

Collaboration with Partners

Our food banks rely heavily on the generosity of our corporate partners.

Food Banks Alberta fosters long-lasting, positive relationships with these important stakeholders by providing diverse opportunities for them to contribute to our collective success.

We believe in those who help us and appreciate their support.

Rolling Up Our Sleeves

“Our company wanted to get involved in the community in some way. We thought volunteering as a team might bring us together and we could do something good for other people at the same time. Food Banks Alberta helped us connect with a food bank in our city, and as a company, we now regularly donate and volunteer.

It has drawn our team closer than we ever imagined and we have been humbled to learn about the incredible work of the food bank. We’re proud to be part of it, even in a small way.”
