This Family Day (Monday, February 21, 2022), Food Banks Alberta is inviting Albertans to unite Together at the Table in local communities for the first-ever FREE virtual event to enjoy a chili dinner together with entertainment and special guests including cooking demonstrations, music performances and more!

The event aims to raise awareness that food banks in communities across Alberta are open, safe, and accessible to families, regardless of their situations.

Why Chili?

“The answer is simple. Chili has cowboy roots; just like Alberta. It’s a simple, hearty, and soul-filling dish that can be enjoyed after a long day of family-centered activities like skating or snowshoeing. The best part? Chili ingredients are readily available in food bank hampers,” says Arianna Scott, CEO of Food Banks Alberta.

In addition, Food Banks Alberta has partnered with Loblaws City Market and Independent Grocer locations in Alberta communities where people can purchase a $10 chili pack for a local food bank family.

According to the 2021 HungerCount Report by Food Banks Canada, food banks across Alberta experienced a 30% increase in access last March; one of the highest in the country.
